    1. Excellent coffee-table book filled with gorgeous photographs of temple walls, artifacts, and treasures from ancient Egypt. Worthy memento from the 1978 Tutankhamun exhibit that toured the United States at that time. Large book size lends to seeing the fine details of the objets de art featured in its pages.

    2. Although Egypt, especially ancient Egypt, is a part of Africa, not the Middle East, I have put it on my Middle East studies shelf, at least until I make an Africa shelf. I consider it a brother to the Middle East because of Islam.Each chapter is written by different Egypt specialist. Barbara Mertz wrote the chapter titled "The Pleasures of Life." This book was published in 1978. Mertz's first Egyptian novel, Crocodile on the Sandbank, was published in 1975 (using the pseudonym of Elizabeth Peter [...]
