    1. I found an old dog-eared copy of Van Ness Myers' Ancient History in a thrift store down in Chino, CA. It was published in 1905 and was clearly a high school text book from that era. It covers from ancient Egypt up to the crowning of Charlemagne as Holy Roman Emperor. I was very impressed with the level detail and good writing in this book.
