    1. I read this book in the eighth grade. While the story was exciting, the writing was even better. I often think of this book and I remember so many of the stories from it: the story of Hugh Glass; the story of "petrified gravity"; the story Colter's Hell. It was the first time that I think I fell in love with a character and the first time I fell for an author. I sought out the book because I found out the song Jim Bridger was about a real person. I sought out other biographies by Shannon Garst b [...]

    2. this book was so awesome because there's alot of adventure in here. I thought adventure could only occur in fiction. especially the time when Hugh Glass was seriosly wounded, he was abandoned, and somehow survived.
