    1. The Last Heir by Chuck Greaves is a breathtaking novel that revolves around the patriarch of the Château Giroux wine empire, Philippe Giroux, his sons Phil and Alain, their beautiful sister Claudia Giroux, film star Ethan Scott, Alain’s childhood friend Andy Clarkson and Los Angeles attorney Jack MacTaggart. Philippe is keen to pass on his empire to the most suitable heir and his predicament seemed resolved by a twist of fate when Alain is caught in an avalanche, leaving Phil as the rightful [...]

    2. Take a group of rich people behaving badly, add a large dollop of Napa Valley atmosphere and toss in a handful of Hollywood. Shake well, and you've got THE LAST HEIR, a marvelous new addition to the Jack MacTaggart mystery series by author Chuck Greaves. The author has crafted another page turning mystery, with enough laugh out loud funny lines to keep your significant other awake if you read at night. I finished the book last night (late, couldn't put it down) and I feel like I've just returned [...]

    3. This was a fast paced and fascinating plot. At first I thought the stray into legal procedure was unnecessary, but then realized that a thorough understanding helped follow the plot and details. And it doesn't hurt to learne characters were realistic, the relationships and behaviors complex and interesting, a very good mystery and well written book. I read this in two days and couldn't put it down. I would give it 4.25 but can't do that. Good read, I will look at Chuck Greaves other work.

    4. The last heir a Jack MacTaggart MysteryBook number 3 in this series is another winner.Greaves, weaves a legal mystery that keeps you reading his books. This one is more mystery and you are right there with Jack MacTaggart trying to figure out who did the murder.Waiting on book number 4

    5. A legal "thriller" that's a lot simpler on the legal front than many but still entertaining.I figured out the twist about 2/3 through the book, but the ending was still a surprise. In nmy working days I'd have called this an "airplane book." Some thing to occupy me on a couple of longer flights, and then I'd leave it in the seat pocket for someone else.

    6. As an attorney, I really enjoyed this book. My favorite genre is detective and mysteries and this book lived up to its potential. I do wonder if non-attorneys found the author defining complex legal terms very boring. They seemed straight out of a legal dictionary and put a stop to the narrative. Otherwise, it was a fantastic book. Can't wait to finish the series.

    7. Jack MacTaggart is giving Mickey Haller a run for his money. The end was a total surprise - anyone who loves Michael Connelly will enjoy this new series - this is the 3rd MacTaggart book and I am looking forward to many more.

    8. A legal procedural/mystery with lots of twists and turns. The attorney narrator is a bit of a smart aleck which makes it fun.

    9. Crackling, crisp intelligence in this one. The lawyering is smart and the protagonist likeable but language is the best part of the read. Keep a dictionary handy.

    10. I read this one out of order, but it wasn't nearly as good as the first one. Don't think I'll even bother with the second one.

    11. This series is awesome. Mactaggert character is awesome. The words that come out of his mouth are very funny. I find myself rereading pages so the story won't ever end. Definitely a must read.
