    1. For a more robust, reliable version of the same idea, read Puppetry: A World History. But if you want more after that, this book has a lot of experiential narratives of plays, and that's something different and interesting if you can't see the shows. (And for most of the shows, no one can, because they aren't being performed anymore.) The book is also written by a puppeteer, so the parts toward the end about his own process and his thoughts on the then-new puppet performances for television are [...]
