    1. A RELUCTANT BRIDE wasn't what I expected. Sadie hates Sol and Aden but she is forced to marry one or the other and Aden seemed the lesser of two evils. He's a wimp who allows his father and brother to beat him to a pulp and abandons girls who need a hero. I didn't think too much of the main characters. Aden was portrayed a weakling and Sadie was angry, hateful and rude, even when Aden went out of his way to be nice. To stand up for her. I never did connect with the characters, but I wanted to. I [...]

    2. Sexual Content Warning. Girls under 14 should not read this review.About this book:“She never wanted to marry. He hopes to make amends for past wrongs. Can love find a way to heal both of their hearts? Sadie Schrock swore she would never marry. All of her other Amish friends could court and marry she was content to manage the family business and eventually take it over when her parents are ready to retire. But all of that changes when a reckless driver kills both of her parents and serious [...]

    3. Now that I have read A Reluctant Bride, I am so excited that this is only the first book in the Amish of Birch Creek series. I can look ahead and anticipate returning to these great characters in future novels! This story was so good! The set up was ripe for tension, with Sadie and Aden ending up in a “marriage of necessity”. But, A Reluctant Bride takes it a step further. Sadie deeply resents Aden for a situation that occurred in the past when he failed her. Now, his actions are protecting h [...]

    4. Wow, where do I begin? This book played with my emotions. One of the characters, author Kathleen Fuller wrote about in this story really brought out the worst in me. I found I had feelings of strong dislike for this person. He literally tore my heart apart with his actions. How can he get away with this? Would a true man of God act this way? I judged him harshly. This book made me cry. Not once, but several times. I hurt for those who hurt. I literally felt their pain. My heart went out to Sadie, [...]

    5. This is an excellent marriage of convenience story! The circumstances leading to Sadie and Aden's union are tragic, and the author did a wonderful job endearing the characters to us in the beginning so that when the shift occurred, I was completely immersed and connected to the high emotion. The complexities of Sadie and Aden's personalities are understandable after what they have gone through in the past and present, and the way Aden dedicates himself to Sadie's happiness is healing for both of [...]

    6. A Reluctant Bride, By: Kathleen FullerA Reluctant Bride is book one in An Amish of Birch Creek series. What an amazing book. This is Kathleen Fuller’s best book yet! I was captured right from the start. I read the book cover to cover in less than a day. This is a story that will have you sitting on the edge of your seating wondering what in the world could possibly happen next! A story of faith, trust, love, heartache, forgiveness and of the past. This was a powerfully moving story for me. The [...]

    7. What a different family the Troyers were from most of the Amish fiction I've read. How could the bishop be that type of man? How could Aden be the man he was with the childhood he had? He was a true gift.I can't wait to see what happens in the next book in the series!

    8. Originally posted HERE.This was an interesting enough read that I’ll be looking out for the rest of the books in the series. It was maybe a little jumpy and disjointed in places, but the storyline was complex and engrossing, and I loved the relationship at the centre. Hero and heroine are forced to marry with no warning or preparation, and it was nice watching their relationship grow.I will never really understand the appeal of the Amish lifestyle, but when an author – like this one – make [...]

    9. Kathleen Fuller has really out done herself on "A Reluctant Bride". The detailed words she used to express characters feelings, moods, and with each other, was deeply riveting. Don't know about any one else that have read "A Reluctant Bride", but I know I felt like I have there in Birch Creek living with the characters as they went through their fictional experiences. Sadie Schrock lives in Birch Creek Amish community with two younger sisters and their parents who own, Schrock Grocery and Tools. [...]

    10. BACK OF THE BOOK BLURBSadie Schrock swore she would never marry. All of her other Amish friends could court and marry---she was content to manage the family business and eventually take it over when her parents are ready to retire. But all of that changes when a reckless driver kills both of her parents and seriously injures her younger sister. With mounting hospital bills adding to the pile of debt her parents left behind, Sadie is left with no choice: she must marry. And not just any man---the [...]

    11. ** I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review ** This was my first Amish romance novel and the first book I've read by this author. I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised! I wasn't sure what to expect from an Amish romance but this story was filled with everything a great story should have. Based on the blurb, I was prepared for the story line of tragedy and sorrow. What I was surprised about was the story with Aden and Sol. I went from hating Sol to feeling such deep sorrow for [...]

    12. A well written story of love, heartache, forgiveness, and second chances. Sadie Schrock, the oldest of three sisters, had no use for Bishop Troyer’s sons. The eldest, Solomon was only 19 and already a drunk and a very mean person. Aden Troyer didn’t seem to have a backbone. He and Sol were in the cornfield the day 16 year old Sadie was walking back to the family store with bags of ice. Drunk as usual, Sol appeared in front of Sadie and blocked her way. Aden couldn’t stand up to his brother [...]

    13. I have to say I'm not usually a fan of romance and at first I thought this might be the typical romance: girl doesn't like guy, girl grows to like guy then love and happily ever after. I was so WRONG. Kathleen Fuller has an exceptional story here. The Reluctant Bride encompasses disenchantment, abuse, broken people, hope, love and strong faith.Sadie Schrock and Aden Troyer were thrown into marriage by a tragedy and the Bishop (Aden's father) of their Amish community. Sadie doesn't trust Aden bec [...]

    14. I was instantly drawn to this book from the moment I read the back cover. I was hoping the inside of the book was just as good as the description on the back. Did the book live up to my expectations? Yes!! In fact, it surpassed them! The characters in this book were well developed. There are ones you will immediately like and ones you will hate. The author did a wonderful job of creating these characters and making them feel so real that I forgot they were fictional. The story is told at just the [...]

    15. Things are not always as we perceive and at first look the Amish Community of Birch Creek, looks and acts just like most others. As we delve into the character’s lives here, one family is not like most of the others, and this family is at the forefront of all of the families. This is the Bishops family, and there are a lot of deep dark secrets here.Beginning with just about the first page we see that one of the Bishops sons is a drunkard. He attacks of one his own, Sadie Schrock, and life then [...]

    16. I received a free copy from Netgalley in return for an honest review. For me, this was a first. I already knew books about Amish are popular, but I never came to reading these books. The story was great, the characters likeable. I also learned to let go of prejudices. To give an example, I always thought Amish did not have showers (only bathtubs and such), running water and such. Initially the showers taken and such bugged me, but thank goodness there is google ;-) So this book pushed me to learn [...]

    17. My Review I enjoyed this Amish fiction. I had to feel sorry for Sadie because she was forced to marry someone she didn't love because of the strict rules of the Bishop. Kathleen Fuller does another wonderful job writing a wonderful book full of excitement and twists and turns. The tension with Sadie and her difficult decision grips the hearts of readers because of the situation she has had to face. In a heartbeat, her parents were taken from her, changing her life. Marrying Aden is not what she [...]

    18. Great writer, Great storyline.I had the joy of meeting the author Kathleen Fuller in Charm, OH, after meeting her and hearing her enthusiasm for Amish writing I had to jump in. So glad I did. This lovely story revolves around Sadie a young lady with a fractured heart and spirit. Sadie is then handed a large list of life tragedies. Through tragedy she is placed in a forced marriage to Aden. Aden is also very fractured by events in his life and his family. Their journey to become a trusting and lo [...]

    19. Forced into a marriage to a man she has hated and tried to avoid for years is never a great way to start any relationship. It was enjoyable to watch these two open up to each other and begin to trust one another and help each other heal from events in their pasts. Each needed the other. This was a beautiful slow, quiet romance that stands even through trials they face together. I really liked this book and the overall feeling of healing and forgiveness that it illustrated.

    20. A Reluctant Bride is the first installment of the Amish of Birch Creek series. What beginning to a brand new series. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next story from Birch Creek.5 stars.

    21. A Reluctant Bride by Kathleen Fuller is the first book in her An Amish of Birch Creek series. Sadie Schrock is sixteen years old (in the very beginning) living in Birch Creek. As hospital bills rapidly accumulate and discovering that her parents were in deep debt Sadie realizes that the only way out is to marry. 25. A Reluctant Bride is the first book in Kathleen Fuller’s Amish of Birch Creek series, but definitely isn’t the first book I ever read by her. In the past, I read and really enjoyed her two books in her Hearts of Middlefield series—A Man of His Word and An Honest Love—and I also own What the Heart Sees: A Collection of Amish Romances that I really loved as well. Clearly, I was extremely hopeful that I would love this novel since I have enjoyed a few of her books in the past, but I wasn’ [...]

    26. A Reluctant Bride shares the story of two Amish families whose lives have collided through tragedy. This book is a romance with lots of secrets and mystery throughout, while the characters struggle with their faith and their need for revenge. The main character, Sadie Schrock, told everyone that she would never get married as she was happy to manage the family store, Schrock Grocery and Tools. She even looked forward of taking over the family store when her parents were to retire. In an instant, [...]

    27. Sadie Schrock planned to never get married. She managed her parents’ store and was content to remain single while watching all of her friends marry. Those plans go up in smoke when Sadie’s parents are killed and her youngest sister, Joanna, is seriously injured in a car versus buggy accident. As Joanna clings to life, Sadie is left to take care of things at home. Ever practical, she looks at the family finances to see if she can pay for Joanna’s extended hospital stay. 28. It has been awhile since I have picked up such a compelling Amish novel. I enjoy Amish fiction by all means, but once I started Kathleen Fuller's A Reluctant Bride I did not want to put it down until I reached the end. (Yes, it was a late night/early morning read!) Sadie Shrock is bringing home some ice for her mother, when she is confronted, along the way, by Sol the bishop's son. Sol says some things to her that make her feel very uncomfortable. She tries to get away from him, but Sol's not wi [...]

    29. I have to admit that upon receiving this book I was a tad skeptical about reading it. I've only recently gotten into reading Amish novels and am getting used to the genre. However, I can tell you with all honesty that I was more than pleasantly surprised with Kathleen Fuller's novel A Reluctant Bride! In fact I fell head over heels for this book! Each night as I climbed into bed to read, I was captivated by the story of Sadie Schrock and Aden Troyer, and catapulted into their small Amish town. I [...]

    30. Sadie Schrock never wanted to marry. She was content to help take care of the family business, and eventually take it over when her parents retire.
